What is this?
A new resource for guides, educators, docents and interpreters!
The book, Creating Engaging Experiences with Walks, Talks, Tours and Tastings, will address the long overdue need for a basic practitioners guide for designing, planning and presenting walks, talks and tours while adding “tastings”—a logical connection to storytelling.
The book will cover questions from throughout the process:
- Why am I doing the event?
- What do I need to know?
- What skills do I need?
- How do I get started?
- What about the audience and their needs?
- What about the setting?
When will it be ready?
2027.
The book is in progress and will likely be printed and ready for distribution in 2027 from Bloomsbury Publishing—the publisher for NAI (National Association for Interpretation), AAM (American Alliance of Museums) and AASLH (American Association of State and Local History)
How can I get involved?
Get the free PDF handout "Top 10 Practices for Engaging Walks, Talks, and Tours".
We’ve started a list of powerful practices for walks, talks and tours (but let’s add tastings in here too!). This document was crowd-sourced from a conference session by gathering ideas from 90+ people.
